Activity 1 - Forming sentences using modal verbs

Instructions:
Create your own sentences using the modal verbs from the list.

• Obligation   
• Permission

Instructions:

Fill in the blanks with either can, could, can't or couldn't. 

Things to think about:

If you come across any unfamiliar words, ask you teacher what they mean! Keep a vocabulary bank in the back of your notebook with any new words you learn. 

Activity 3 - Could questions board game

Instructions:
Roll the dice and answer the questions on the board. The first one to the finish is the winner!

Activity - Role-play

Instructions:
Pair up with your teacher and create a role-play using as many modal verbs as you can!

Things to think about:

• What kind of character are you?
• Where is your character?
• Why is your character in this situation?
• What is the relationship between the two characters?
• Does your character have any certain abilities or obligations?
• Is your character asking for permission?
